Lynn with youngest daughter Barbara, attending the stall
On the 27th June 2009 at the Worth Church garden fete in Worth (Sussex) a local family held a stall for the Steadfast Trust.
The theme of the event was ‘Merrie England’ with many of the participants dressed in Tudor period costume. There was archery, Morris men, stalls with home produce and craftsmen and women.
Mark and Lynn (the local stall organisers) explained how this year they were able to quote the various activities that had been organised and financed by the charity, with people being very interested and totally agreeing with the charities goals. In the background traditional/local Folk music was played giving a very welcome English atmosphere.
The stall sold an arrangement of English merchandise including books on our heritage and culture and, during the short afternoon event, raised £29 for the charity.
Every person visiting the stall went away with the two Steadfast Trust leaflets (that detailed what the charity is about) with one woman asking for a handful of leaflets to give out to her Sunday school. It was a wonderful event, and many more will follow..
The Steadfast Trust would like to thank Mark and Lynn (and of course young Barbara) for all their work and effort. This provides great promotion for the charity and frequently results in new friends joining us in helping our people.
If anyone wishes to organise an event, then please check what’s happening in your local village / town / city, and get in touch with the charity, we will pass you on to a more local contact who can assist you in setting up a stall with equipment, merchandise etc.
