Submitted by: Steadfast news correspondent, 10th Oct 09

The Sussex town of Battle is dominated by the ancient imposing monument of the Abbey
On the 10th October the Steadfast Trust held its annual Folkmoot (AGM) in the town of Battle in the pleasant informal venue at the Abbey Hotel.
During the AGM details of the charities current progress was discussed and 13 of the 15 Motions announced for the meeting was approved to help advance the charity.
The welcome announcement on the appointment of two more Trustees Lynn Chorley and Mark Taylor was made along with details on the events / activities that have taken place in the last year.
Trustee Julien Crighton declared how the charity was in good financial standing with over £7000 in the bank and plans to offer Grant Schemes to pursue the charities objectives. With approx £700 per month donated to the charity and steady increasing in donating supporters, it was agreed that a dedicated Treasurer is needed and plans are afoot towards establishing this.
All Friends of the Steadfast Trust, those who generously donate £2 per month, will be emailed the minutes of the meeting given greater insight towards what the charity plans in 2010.
Steadfast Trust social evening
On Saturday evening, after the Folkmoot and Ceremony, Trustee Mark Taylor organised a Steadfast Trust Evening Dinner thst was based on an authentic Anglo Saxon meal as enjoyed in the 11th century (it should be noted that the costs were paid for by those attending) and attended by the charities Trustees along with Friends and supporters.
The bill of fare on offer at the Steadfast Social included main courses of chicken in honey glaze or sliced roast pork and prunes accompanied by peas, beans and wholemeal or oat bread and butter, and was followed by a traditional English pudding of apple pie and fresh cream, a selection of cheeses including traditional Cheddar and goats cheese, nuts and dried apricots - food fit for the stomach and heart of a king, and of a king of England, too.
The social was a huge success, great fun and enjoyed by all
