Charity Fundraiser Week (23rd April – 3rd May)
Submitted by: Steadfast news correspondent, 17th Feb 10

From St George’s Day 23rd April til Mayday 3rd May
Events co-ordinator and Trustee Mark Taylor has chosen the 23rd April (St George’s Day) to the 3rd of May (Mayday Bank Holiday) 2010 as the official Steadfast Trust Fundraiser Week. The charity would love anyone involved in the charity to organise a simple event during one of these days to raise funds for the charities work.
Here is how you can get involved in the Steadfast Trust Fundraiser Week.
Hold a stall event
- Many towns and villages hold local popular fetes, particularly around the Bank Holiday times, and you can run a stall selling cakes, books, arts and crafts in aid of the Steadfast Trust.
Organise a sponsored event
- A sponsored walk can be very invigorating and enjoyable as well as raise money for the charity. Perhaps you could journey a few mils across a historical English monument site or for those more active, a sponsored swim / jog?
Charity sponsorship forms are available from download here.
St George’s night celebration
- Have a chat with your local landlord, perhaps you can organise a local quiz night with traditional English music and questions on English history. Bunting St George flags can be put up to emphasise the occasion. We can provide a donation box, a ready made quiz and leaflets for those who wish to contribute.
Get the message out
- On the 24th / 25th weekend, why not do a leafleting session of your local area spreading the positive message on what the charity is all about and how we help. Quantities of these are available for free to Friends of the charity. Just contact events@steadfasttrust.org.uk.
Car boot sale
- Often car boot organisers don’t even charge you a fee to attend a local car boot sale, if all profits go to charity. It’s a simple easy way to get rid of any unwanted items, just contact us and we can send you some leaflets and provide a contact number if the organisers require it.
But remember ‘let us know about it’, by contacting events@steadfasttrust.org.uk where we can provide help and advice, and after you have raised the money you may wish to produce a write up and perhaps send us a few pictures of the event so that we can place it up on the website.
Of course, you can always just send us a welcome donation or become a Friend of the Steadfast Trust here.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
We are hoping to raise a modest £500 during the week, which can be put towards a number of grant projects such as the Storytellers for schools, St George events, and charity equipment for more events.
Already several people have pledged to leaflet a large number of homes informing residents on the charities goals. With sponsored events and fair stalls already planned, we expect this to be a positive active week but would appreciate more people getting involved.
