Traditional Coffer, Tea and Cake sale for the local community

During the month of May a supporter of the charity held a Coffee, Tea and Cake sale in the beautiful seaside resort of Seaford in East Sussex. The sale raised a fantastic £72 and people who attended the event were ‘very impressed by the Steadfast Trust flyer’. The charity would like to thank those local supporters for all their hard work, which allows the charity to fund educational activities encouraging English children to learn more on their own unique cultural heritage.

The town of Seaford goes back several centuries and has an interesting history in itself. During the middle ages the main port in the surrounding area was Seaford. The town gained its importance as the mouth of the river Ouse, but this importance was not to last. The river suffered from silting, which made traffic difficult, and the town also suffered from repeated attacks by French Pirates. The town was repeatedly burned down and rebuilt in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries but managed to endure to this day.

Seaford has seven Victoria Cross holders associated with the town and one of its more recent famous residents is Paul Garred, drummer of the band The Kooks, who grow up there.
