All registered charities must declare ‘who they are helping’, ‘in what way’ and ‘how they shall do this’. When the Steadfast Trust was first established the classifications – as these are officially known – were as followed...

Classification
What

• Education / Training
• Medical / Health / Sickness
• Relief of Poverty
• Arts / culture

Who
• Children / Young people
• Elderly / Old People
• People of a particular ethnic or racial origin
• Other charities / Voluntary bodies

How
• Makes grants to organisations
• Provides human resources
• Provides advocacy / advice / information
• Sponsors or undertakes research
• Acts as umbrella or resource body

As the charity has progressed, it has become clear that additions to the classifications needed to be added to further help our beneficially class, namely the ‘Anglo-Saxon community in England’, or as many prefer the ‘ethnic English people’.

During the 16th May 2010 meeting it was felt that the charity needed to make the following additions...

WHAT - Economic / Community development / Employment
Reason: The charity had observed that many communities established voluntary community groups – in fact a part-government supported organisation called ‘Black Manifesto’ noted that there are between 15,000 and 17,000 such groups for the BME (Black Minority Ethnic) peoples - yet the Steadfast Trust is not aware of a single ethnically English group.
The charity produced an English Community Group setup guide , to encourage English Community groups and this additional classification will allow the charity to fund such organisations.

HOW - Makes grants to individuals
Reason: The charity is aware that a number of individuals work very hard for the English community, promoting our culture and heritage, and as such this classification allows the charity to provide small grants to these people for specific projects.

These classifications were approved and are now in place.

It is hoped that these additions will allow the charity to further improve the conditions of the ethnic English people, promote a sense of identity and improve the self-respect of our people, particularly the young.
