Book grant on Anglo-Saxon Arts / Culture
Submitted by: Steadfast Trust correspondent, 9th Jun 10

The charity will be providing many books to schools and universities
The Steadfast Trust feels it is important for young English people to have a solid understanding of their unique communal heritage. With this in mind the Trustees approved its first official book grant of £750 from the Books for Learning ongoing grants project, titled Books on early English Arts / Culture.
This grant scheme focuses on giving books on Anglo-Saxon Arts / Culture. The subject of Arts / Culture was partly chosen in response to the newly published book
Wayland's Work: Anglo-Saxon Art, Myth & Material Culture from the 4th to the 7th Century
The grant will involve giving a free copy of

This will be a targeted grant at educational institutions that will make greatest use of this valuable resource. This can prove a challenge since most of our universities specialise in the historical past of other foreign nations, and those who teach English history often don’t go back to the origins of the English – the Anglo-Saxon period, but these books may also be relevant to certain Arts faculties around England.
The costs of the books plus post and packaging is £100, but the charity has managed to secure these for £75 and will offer 10 institutions this wonderful opportunity. The ‘Books for Learning’ grant project will be furthered in the future with grants made to middle and high schools, where supporters of the charity will be offered the opportunity to apply for their local schools to receive the grants.
The Steadfast Trust would like to thank Anglo-Saxon Books publishers for their generosity, and assure our supporters that these books will be put to good use.
