The 2nd Steadfast Feast!

Following the popularity of our meal last year at Battle The Steadfast Trust proudly announces its 2nd Steadfast Feast
We welcome all, both old and young alike to join us at the feasting table for an evening which offers 7th century dishes and is accompanied by early English music provided by Anthony and Anne Purnell from the acclaimed Kent based mediaeval music group 'Cancionero'.
The evening promises to be something special. We take our seats at 7pm and begin the feasting at 7.30pm.
Price of the meal and music is £16.50 for members and £20 for non members. Seating limited to 46-50. First come first served.

Sliced Roast Pork and Prunes
Peas and beans
Wholemeal oat bread and butter
(No potatoes because they arrived in the 16th century)
Back by popular request, this pork dish is a delicious version of one served by monks in the 7th century.
The slices of pork are intermingled with the prunes and the sauce complements the meat perfectly.
Peas and beans are served along with the meat and coarse slices of wholegrain bread add nutricious ballast!

Chicken Stew with Herbs & Barley (7th century)
This wholesome and richly flavoured,aromatic stew dish was popular in the 7th century and its details are available to us through records in the British museum.
In addition to the chicken base, leeks, barley, herbs, wine and seasoning make this a well balanced and hearty dish. It is served in bowls accompanied by slices of coarsely cut wholemeal bread.
